Walking in the Brecon Beacons

Walking in the Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons has many walks to offer and the Castle makes an ideal base to explore some of the best. These are a few that are popular with our residents:

Waterfalls at Ystradfellte
The spectacular waterfalls are a favourite with guests. There are several trails to choose from with a range of distances and difficulty, suiting a casual walk or more serious hike. http://www.naturalhighs.net/waterfalls/falls00/ystradfellte.html

Pen y Fan and Corn Du
Pen y Fan is the highest and most popular peak in the Brecon Beacons. With breathtaking views from the peak it is another favourite with walkers. Again there are several routes you can take, so you can spend anything from 3 hours to all day exploring the peaks. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/zamberlan/hist-geog/p-y-fan.htm

Usk Reservoir
A nice relaxing walk nearby is around the Usk Reservoir. There is plenty of wildlife to see including mountain ponies and red kites. http://www.brecon-beacons.com/usk-reservoir.htm

There are many more walks on offer, we have guide books which guests are welcome to use to get the most out of their stay.
